2022 Mazda CX-9 Achieves “Good” Rating in a New, More Difficult Side Impact Test
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced late last month that the 2022 Mazda CX-9 had earned its top rating of “Good” in a newer, more stringent side impact test. The CX-9 and the CX-5 both earned this new rating, with the CX-5 being the only small SUV to get it.
The CX-9 was found to be one of only two models total that got a “Good” rating in every category. In other words, the 2022 Mazda CX-9 is built from the ground up with safety in mind. That includes how the body is built and what it’s made of, advanced safety features, and passive safety features. Mazda noted that, in particular, they have been focusing on rigid body construction as a leading part of their safety engineering. Some features that make up the safety system in the CX-9 include:
- Blind Spot Monitoring Assist. Your blind spot is now quite visible, and your car can warn you if someone is lurking.
- Smart Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection. This system brakes if a collision is about to occur, and can even see pedestrians as well as other vehicles.
- Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Detects a vehicle coming from the side as you are backing up, providing visual and audio warning.
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control. Your CX-9 can do some of the driving for you, even in traffic.
