How You Can Avoid Texting and Driving

We all should be aware of the dangers we face when we text and drive, but many of us still find ourselves reading and responding to text messages while we drive. Below are some strategies to avoid texting and driving.

  • Before you head out, try to think of everyone you may need to text or call. That may help you avoid getting text notifications and calls when you're driving. You should also program your GPS and maybe make a music playlist so you don't have to change the radio station.
  • If you're riding with a passenger you may want to let them return text messages and answer calls for you while you drive.
  • If you feel like the temptation to look at your phone is too great you should hide it by putting it in your glove box or center console.
  • Find an app that will block incoming notifications to your phone. There are several free types of apps out that can prevent your phone from receiving messages and send an automatic response letting them know that you're driving.
